298. the worst thing about the gods’ sense of humour and frank’s love life isn’t the fact that leo valdez will encroach on their space all the time like he has a right to be there, or the fact that hazel tends to light up and fidget around nervously whenever leo walks into a room. it isn’t that she’ll be the one laughing the loudest at one of his jokes, snorting as if she can’t help herself, although he isn’t that funny. it’s not even that together they can share a part of hazel’s past that frank will never be a part of. no, the worst thing was that fate chose, out of all the powers that be, that leo valdez can make fire flicker out of his finger tips with just a spark of a thought or in the heat of a moment; fire, the very thing that can snuff out Frank’s life in a flash or a second. well, frank hoped the gods were watching with a big bowl of popcorn, because he wasn’t going to give up the fight that easily.
